레트 증후군, Rett syndrome

원인

부계 Xq28에 있는 MECP2 (methyl-CpG-binding protein 2) 변이로 생기는 염색체 이상 질환이다.
유병률은 20,000여아들 중 1명꼴이다.

증상 징후

영아기 초기에는 정상으로 발육할 수 있다.
생후 2~5개월에서부터 두부 성장이 정지 상태에 이른다.
그 후 지능 능력과 언어발육이 급속도로 또는 서서히 감소된다.
12~18개월 사이에 손 발육이 황폐해진다.
뇌전증이 생길 수 있고 자폐증 증상과 저능아가 될 수 있다.
운동발육이 퇴행되고 실조가 생긴다.
호흡곤란이 생긴다.
손을 닦는 운동, 손을 비비는 운동, 입으로 손을 핥는 운동, 머리털이나 옷을 잡아당기는 운동
등 상동 행동을 할 수 있다.
MRI 검사에 대뇌의 양이 비정상으로 많이 줄어들고 위축된다.
거대결장, 담관 기능 저하, 척추만곡증 등이 생길 수 있다.
눈길접촉을 잘 하지 않고 안아주어도 잘 안기지 않고 같이 놀기를 싫어한다.

치료

대증치료를 한다.
성인까지 생존할 수 있으나 갑자기 사망할 수도 있다.

Rett syndrome

Cause

• It is a chromosomal abnormality caused by mutation of MECP2 (methyl-CpG-binding protein 2) in paternal Xq28.

• The prevalence is 1 in 20,000 girls.

Symptoms Signs

• In early infancy, it can develop normally.

• From 2 to 5 months of age, head growth stops.

• Thereafter, there is a rapid or gradual decline in intellectual abilities and language development.

• Between 12 and 18 months, hand development is devastated.

• Can develop epilepsy, autistic symptoms and impaired children.

• Movement development is degenerated and ataxia occurs.

• I have shortness of breath.

• Hand washing, hand rubbing, mouth licking, pulling on hair or clothing

• Able to perform stereotyped actions, etc.

• The cerebral volume is abnormally reduced and atrophied in MRI scans.

• Megacolon, decreased bile duct function, and curvature of the spine may occur.

• They do not make good eye contact, do not hug each other well, and do not like to play together.

Treatments

• Treat symptomatically.

• They may survive to adulthood but may die suddenly.
