▪ 뇌전증을 가진 사람들 10명 중 7명은 뇌전증의 원인을 확실히 알 수 없다.

▪ 원인을 확실히 모르는 뇌전증을 특발성 뇌전증 또는 원인 불명 뇌전증이라 한다.

▪ 즉 70%의 뇌전증의 원인을 확실히 모른다.

▪ 나머지 30%의 뇌전증은 뇌종양, 뇌졸중, 치매, 납중독, 심한 뇌 외상, 박테리아성 뇌 감염병, 바이러스성 뇌 감염병, 임신 중 생긴 임신부 외상, 임신부 감염병, 임신부 전신 질환으로 인한 태아 뇌 장애, 출생 전 태아 뇌 발육 이상 등으로 인해 뇌전증이 생길 수 있다.

▪ 교통사고, 스포츠 사고, 낙상, 두부 타박상 등 두부 외상으로 생긴 뇌손상으로 뇌전증이 생길 수 있다. 특히 심한 두부외상을 입은 후 뇌전증이 유발될 수 있다.

▪ 뇌전증은 유전인자로 인해서도 생길 수 있다.

▪ 알코올 중독이나 약물 중독으로, 또는 화학물질 중독으로도 뇌전증이 유발될 수 있다.

▪ 직계가족 중 누군가 뇌전증이 있으면, 그 직계가족 중 다른 사람에게 뇌전증이 생길 가능성이 좀 더 높다.

▪ 면역전달 물질로 인해 뇌전증이 생길 수도 있고, 자가 면역 질환으로도 뇌전증이 생길 수 있다.

▪ 대사 이상으로도 뇌전증이 생길 수 있다.

Q&A Causes of epilepsy?

▪ In 7 out of 10 people with epilepsy, the cause of the epilepsy is unknown.

▪ Epilepsy of unknown cause is called idiopathic epilepsy or epilepsy of unknown cause.

▪ In other words, the cause of epilepsy in 70% is unknown.

▪ The remaining 30% of epilepsy is brain tumor, stroke, dementia, lead poisoning, severe brain trauma, bacterial brain infectious disease, viral brain infectious disease, maternal trauma during pregnancy, maternal infectious disease, fetal brain disorder due to systemic disease of pregnant woman, prenatal Epilepsy can occur due to abnormal brain development of the fetus.

▪ Epilepsy can occur due to brain damage caused by head trauma such as traffic accidents, sports accidents, falls, and head bruises. Especially after severe head trauma, epilepsy can be induced.

▪ Epilepsy can also be caused by genetic factors.

Epilepsy can be caused by alcoholism, drug addiction, or chemical poisoning.

▪ If someone in your immediate family has epilepsy, others in your immediate family are more likely to have epilepsy.

▪ Epilepsy can occur due to immunotransmitters, and epilepsy can also occur from autoimmune diseases.

▪ Metabolic abnormalities can also cause epilepsy.
