▪ 전신 강직–간대 발작을 대발작(Grand mal) 또는 전신(성) 발작(Generalized seizures)이라고도 한다.

▪ 참고로 발작을 영어로 seizure라고 하고, 경련을 영어로 convulsion이라고 한다. 때로는 이 두 단어를 동의어로 쓰기도 한다.

▪ 침착하게 대처한다.

▪ 입 안에 아무것도 넣어서는 안 된다.

▪ 팔목이나 목에 단 의료 정보 인식표를 체크한다.

▪ 경련 발작(convulsion seizures)이 시작한 시간과 경련 발작이 끝나는 시간을 알아 둔다.

▪ 경련 발작을 할 때 꼼짝 못하게 몸이나 팔, 다리를 붙들어서는 안 된다.

▪ 안경을 썼으면 벗긴다.

▪ 머리 밑에 부드럽고 편평한 쿠션이나 베게 등을 놓는다.

▪ 기도를 압박할 수 있고 목을 조일 수 있는 옷 등을 느슨하게 풀어 준다.

▪ 몸을 옆으로 눕힌다.

▪ 경련 발작이 끝난 후 도와줄 수 있는 있는 것이 있나 조용히 물어본다.

▪ 뇌전증으로 생기는 대부분의 경련 발작은 생명에 위험성이 거의 없다.

▪ 대개 경련 발작은 1분~5분 내 끝나고 병원 응급 의료실로 후송할 필요가 없다.

▪ 그러나 일단 부모, 의사, 응급 의료실, 응급 의료 구급대에 응급 전화로 연락해서 그들의 전화 상담치료 자문을 받고 조언에 따라 응급 처치를 한다.

▪ 경련 발작이 뇌전증으로 생기지 않고, 저혈당증 등 다른 원인으로 생길 수도 있으므로 일단 의사나 응급 의료실, 응급의료 구급대의 조언을 받는다.

▪ 특히 다음과 같은 경우는 부모, 의사, 응급 의료실, 응급 의료 구급대에 응급으로 연락해 그들의 지시에 따라 발작 1차 응급 처치를 하고 병원 응급 의료실로 이송한다.

1). 경련 발작이 5분 이상 지속될 때

2). 뇌전증의 병력이 없던 아이가 처음 발작을 했거나, 발육 장애의 병력이 없던 아이가 발작이나 경련을 할 때

3). 처음 발작을 5분 이상 더 오래 걸려 회복할 때

4). 한 번에 두 번 혹은 그 이상 발작을 하거나 호흡곤란이 생길 때

5) 임신을 했거나, 그 외 다른 질환이 있다고 진단을 받은 사람이 발작을 할 때

6). 어떤 종류의 외상이나 질환이 있을 때

7). 어떻게 도와줄 수 있는지 확실히 모를 때

▪ Generalized tonic-clonic seizures are also called grand mal or generalized seizures. ▪ For reference, seizures are called seizures in English, and convulsions are called convulsions in English. Sometimes these two words are used as synonyms.

▪ Stay calm.

▪ Never put anything in your mouth.

▪ Check the medical information tag worn on the wrist or neck.

▪ Know when convulsion seizures start and when convulsion seizures end.

▪ Do not hold onto your body, arms or legs when you have a convulsive seizure.

▪ If you have glasses, take them off.

▪ Place a soft, flat cushion or pillow under your head.

▪ Loosen clothing, etc., that could compress the airway and squeeze the neck.

▪ Lie on your side.

▪ Quietly ask if there is anything you can do to help after the seizure is over.

▪ Most convulsive seizures resulting from epilepsy pose little risk to life.

▪ Convulsive seizures usually end within 1 to 5 minutes and do not require transportation to the hospital emergency department.

▪ However, once you call your parents, doctors, emergency departments, and paramedics on the emergency line, get advice from them and give first aid according to their advice.

▪ Convulsive seizures do not occur due to epilepsy, but may also be caused by other causes such as hypoglycemia, so first seek advice from a doctor, emergency room, or emergency medical team.

▪ In particular, in the following cases, call a parent, doctor, emergency medical department, or emergency medical emergency department as an emergency, and perform primary first aid treatment for seizures according to their instructions and transfer to the hospital emergency department.
